Apalachicola, FL, possesses many old Florida treasures, including this old house I discovered tucked among the palmettos and mossy oaks. The afternoon light hitting the side of the weathered boards and flickering through the moss made me stop in my tracks. If only it could tell us its stories, I thought. My mind raced with images of children playing in the sandy yard, climbing the big oak tree, laundry hanging on a clothesline out back. This, I thought, is yet another vanishing part of Old Florida. I'm glad I captured it in paint and hope it will be there when I return.
