Saturday, September 28 | An Austro-Hungarian Journey | 7:30 p.m.
Add some paprika to your meal along with Kaffee mit Schlag as we play dance-inspired music of the Waltz King, Johann Strauss, Jr., as well as a suite of Hungarian dances arranged by Zoltan Kodaly. First performed in Budapest, Johannes Brahms' monumental Piano Concerto No. 2 featuring Wideman Competition Gold Medal Winner Asiya Korepanova concludes the concert in a performance that will leave you breathless!

Hear the sounds of America as captured by American and European composers. Guest artist Jeff Midkiff performs the regional premiere of his acclaimed, folk-inspired Concerto for Mandolin “From the Blue Ridge” - a fascinating reflection of bluegrass-based themes that combine with sophisticated orchestral sounds, a touch of swing and jazz, as well as some foot-stomping, toe-tapping rhythms that are just great fun to hear! Also a delight will be the NFSO performance of Charles Ives’ Central Park in the Dark - a kaleidoscope of sounds heard while on an evening stroll in 1906 New York City - and Antonin Dvorak’s famous New World Symphony.

Always inspirational, our annual concerto competition winners are featured guest artists as we present some of the most talented young musicians our region has to offer. Concluding the program will be a rare opportunity to hear a live performance of George Frideric Handel's most popular instrumental work, Water Music!

Direct from Las Vegas! This smash-hit show, in its 14th successful year in Las Vegas, has criss-crossed the country recreating the music that shaped an era. Don’t miss this NFSO special fundraiser event as The Rat Pack is Back comes to the Mattie Kelly Arts Center for a show to remember! Relive the great songs & terrific voices of the original Rat Pack - Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Sammy Davis Jr. and Joey Bishop - as this tribute show is performed by some of the world’s most talented impressionist entertainers joined by the NFSO in “big band” mode! Simply put, The Rat Pack is Back is a show that’s a Cream of the Crop, A Number One, King of the Hill experience!

Saturday, April 12 | A German Spring Celebration | 7:30 p.m.
Spring will be in the air as we celebrate with a performance of Robert Schumann’s “Spring” Symphony. The great Felix Mendelssohn conducted its first performance and we will honor him as well with a performance of his Overture to the Beautiful Melusine, Mendelssohn’s musical depiction of the story of the Little Mermaid. The stage will be filled to capacity as we conclude the evening with Beethoven’s majestic Choral Fantasy, featuring virtuoso German pianist Alexander Krichel, the Northwest Florida Symphony Chorale and six vocal soloists.

Both season subscriptions and individual tickets for all concerts of the NFSO’s 2013-2014 season are on sale now from the Mattie Kelly Arts Center Box Office. The season package is $115, a price that includes the five regular season concerts at a discounted rate plus Box Office processing fees.
Individual NFSO concert tickets are also now on sale for $22.50 each for adults and $16 each for youth age 18 and younger or active duty military. Tickets for "The Rat Pack is Back!" are $37 each.
