The Northwest Florida Ballet (NFB) will stage a free outdoor performance at the Seaside Amphitheater on Oct. 7 at 7 p.m. as part of NFB’s cultural outreach productions within the community.
The program begins with a lecture demonstration on the history of ballet and the method of training at NFB featuring both company dancers and school students. Excerpts from the brilliant holiday favorite, The Nutcracker featuring the music of Pytor Ilyich Tchaikovsky with choreography by celebrated NFB Artistic Director Todd Eric Allen will follow the demonstration.
The performance also includes Sposa son Disprezzeta featuring choreography by NFB Assistant Director Sharon L. Allen with music by Vivaldi. The evening concludes with excerpts from Giselle, one of the oldest continually performed ballets dating back to Paris in 1841. Staged by NFB Ballet Mistress Dorothy Daniels Lister with choreography by Jean Coralli and Jules Perrot, Giselle tells the story of a peasant girl who dies of a broken heart after discovering Albrecht, her lover, is betrothed to another.
The evening of dance is sponsored by the Merchants of Seaside and takes place in the Seaside Amphitheater starting at 6pm. Bring your chairs and blankets and enjoy the night.
