MORE INFO:

Award-winning Santa Rosa Beach artist Kathleen Broaderick opens the doors to her beautiful new space CHROMA Studio & Gallery located at 3925 W. Highway 30A in Santa Rosa Beach.

Surrounded by friends, family and friendly fans, Broaderick realized her longtime dream to own and operate a working studio gallery bearing her name at her grand opening celebration on Friday, September 22.

Guests sipped fruit-filled sangria and dined on succulent seafood paella and flavorful flan dessert prepared fresh on site, while listening to flamenco guitar stylings by Morgan Stuart.

The glowing letters of the studio name, CHROMA, — which means purity or intensity of color — welcomed guests eager to explore the cheery space dotted with bouquets of fresh flowers. More than 60 guests mixed and mingled the white-walled space filled with Broaderick’s colorful, bold signature works: a proud Patriot Rooster, a salty Seabird, a coral Flamingo, a silvery blue Bonita, a vase flowing with heavenly pink Hydrangea and more.

In the studio, nestled behind the gallery, stood easels holding the promise of fresh new paintings in the works. As guests browsed this space, many dabbed brushes in primary paint colors and added their creative touch to an oversized collaborative canvas.

“As a former elementary art teacher, CHROMA allows me to combine by personal art studio and my love of teaching all in one place,” said artist and CHROMA owner Kathleen Broaderick. “I wanted to create a beautiful environment, where guests feel comfortable expressing themselves; a place where we all find the joy in art.”

This is a working gallery and Broaderick teaches classes and workshops in the studio. Artists and non-artists at all skill levels are welcome. The next painting class, “Yellowtail,” is set for Thursday, Oct. 12 from 6 to 8:30 p.m. “Rock Rooster” is set forSaturday, Nov. 4 from 9:30 a.m. to noon. Single session classes are two and one-half hours long. All supplies are provided including gallery wrapped canvases, high-quality professional acrylic paints, brushes and step-by-step instructions, plus all the encouragement needed to make a masterpiece. Wine and snacks are welcome, but experience is not required. The cost for each single session class is $75 per person.

Broaderick presents her first two-day workshop in her new space on Monday, Oct. 23 and Tuesday, Oct. 24 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. She will paint a demonstration painting each morning that will serve as a creative prompt. As they paint, students will enjoy exclusive one-on-one painting tips, advice and guidance from Broaderick. Classes are limited to 12. A supply list will be provided to each registered student. The fee is $250 per person.

A native of the Sunshine State, Broaderick was born and raised in Hollywood, Florida, and currently resides in Miramar Beach. Her artistic journey began serendipitously during her last semester at Florida State University, when she filled an open slot in her schedule with a watercolor class. After raising two children and teaching elementary school, she turned her longtime passion into a career.

Her love of watercolor is evident in the transparent, luminosity of her energetic, layered oil paintings. Broaderick deftly captures the essence of her subjects with bold use of clean color and light created with loose brushstrokes resulting in fresh, relatable pieces.

As the 2016 Mattie Kelly Arts Foundation Poster Art Contest winner, Broaderick’s artwork prominently represented the MKAF’s Festival of the Arts in Destin. The same year, she also won an Award of Merit in the 21st annual juried art competition. In August 2017, she was named an Exclusive Artist for Ballard Designs, one of the nation’s premier sources for home furnishings.

Gallery hours vary depending upon classes and workshops being held. Private gallery tours are available by appointment. To register for classes and workshops, visit www.CHROMA30a.com and call 844-5-CHROMA ((844) 524-7662.
