Help! My husband's computer has gone haywire. ASUS says I need to have the Vista 64BIT with SP1 or SP2 to repair/rewrite the system files. The program was installed on my computer when I bought it from Best Buy, but I do not have the installation disk. Best Buy Geek Squad says they are not authorized to have the disk, nor is it sold in their stores anymore. Aaaagh. The recoverydisk will wipe my hard drive clean and reformat the program, so that worn't work as we have Quickbooks on the machine.
Does anybody out there have a Vista 64 BIT with SP1 or SP2 installation disk that I could borrow to repair my files?

If you don't have your data backed up on external media then take it to a pro and have them extract the data you need and then install Windows 7. Or may be a good time to upgrade your system.

Thanks Kurt, since I am having trouble locating the disk, my IT person said that he will do what you said...he was the one who said that we should try to use the install disk to repair if we could get hold of one and ASUS support did too. His suggestion about Windows 7 was that for a business, wait until next fall to upgrade --he has clients who are having all kinds of problems with it.

Thanks -everything I've read about 7 is positive but I always wait on new operating systems. Although if I were getting a new system I would probably go for it.

Saw your post - remembered talking to you on the phone for a good hour last Thursday! Any closer to a solution you can find acceptable for your situation? Just curious.
