A few tips for hiring a good cleaning company:
Remember, It is important to always ask the cleaning company you hire for proof of insurance, bonding, licensing, etc.. A business that is not legitimate may cause you more problems than it is worth.
If your "under the table" cleaner does not pay their taxes, you become their employer, and are responsible for paying their social security taxes as well as unemployment taxes. Not to mention workers comp, you could be held liable as their employer if they are injured on the job.
Always ask for references, and follow up on them.
Make sure the company and or employees know about the products they use, and the surfaces they use them on. This may seem daunting, but you will probably get a good idea whether or not they know what they are talking about just by asking a few questions.
Don't sign a long term contract for residential cleaning. There is no need for it, the quality of the work should be able to keep you on it's own.
You want a company who puts your safety first. Many cleaners are dangerous, and frankly have no business in your home. Many ingredients in harsh cleaners have been tied to cancer, asthma, birth defects, and the list goes on. Finding green cleaners takes a little more work and research, but it is worth it.
Meet in person. It is important to have a good rapport and maintain good lines of communication.
