No matter how much wine and beer we bring to the beach with us, it always disappears too fast. (wonder how that happens  ) We end up having to replenish supplies so I'd love it if all the locals chimed in with their Best Buys and Great Finds.

And even better, what food you matched it with! I'd love to know what locally purchased white wine would go with the shrimp and fish I get at Goatfeathers, or what beer goes with that Kobe beef burger.

There are lots of wines and beers I see on 30-A that I know will never make it north of the Mason-Dixon line, so tell all!!! I'm thirsty. ;-)

Because Merman cracks beers at noon. And offers them out!

You drink fancy beer though. Tom Thumb does it for me.

SJ recommended Chan's Wine World on a previous thread. It's not on 30-A but not far. I bought some Menage a Trois Rose wine there from the Folie A Deux Winery. It is my new personal favorite. There is a white blend as well. Very reasonably priced. A bottle or two will be coming home in my suitcase next visit.

The best deal we've ever seen on beer was on Labor Day weekend at Seagrove Publix where they had 18-packs of Miller Lite for $4.95 - I KID YOU NOT! We didn't buy enough. We should have filled a room with it. My daughter and her boyfriend loaded up his car with as much as they could possibly shove in and took it back to GT.

As far as cheap vino goes, Seagrove Publix used to carry Coastal Ridge Chardonnay. I say "used to" - maybe it just sells out fast. I haven't seen it in a while there, although I find it at our local Publix. It's $9.99 for 1.5 L (it was $9.49 in December). Shades charges $6 a glass for it. You do the math.

If you want good stuff, I can't make any recommendations. Margaux's and Fermentations are gone. We're not wild about the place closest to us. The person working there seems annoyed whenever we ask for a recommendation. He has no social skills. Even after a kajillion visits, when we'd try to make small-talk with him, he acted as if he were thinking, "I don't give a eff if I talk to you." We've decided not to give him our business, even though it's close by.

Cocoons II, which may have been consolidated into Cocoons had a very nice wine selection--some at reasonable prices.

All the beer destined for New Orleans was dumped on the market.

Publix has a nice Champagne tasting on New Year's Eve.

Oh, really! That's very interesting. We always wonder about how that happened. Thanks for the info. :)

So, like, I can't expect the same thing next Labor Day. Don't get me wrong - I'd rather pay whatever than go through "that" - not saying the words - don't wanna jinx it.

No secrets with you, Kimmifunn! We actually do get beer at Tom Thumb, though. Sometimes we don't arrive 'til past midnight and that's the only place close by that is open. They have great prices, too. Even if it's not fancy beer. :lolabove:

I've bought the Bacardi lemon rum at the liquor store by Publix and the guy was really knowledgeable about the hard stuff. We haven't bought any wine there (yet). STLDon, we've had good luck at Cocoons, if you mean the place that's by the art gallery that's not in business. What was the name of that? Art that doesn't match the couch? or something along those lines.
