There's no prettier setting to let your artist soul soar than the Bayou Arts Center on Hogtown Bayou! The Cultural Arts Alliance of Walton County (CAA) offers a dynamic collection of workshops throughout the year called “CAA’s Workshop Wave.” Most half-day classes are $30 for CAA members and $35 for non-members. Most full day classes are $60 for members and $70 for non-members. All classes are open to the public to reserve.

Classes take place at the Bayou Arts Center on Hogtown Bayou Lane, a picturesque setting on the water among the marshes sure to inspire any artist, novice or experienced.

The year long class schedule includes, but is not limited to watercolor, pastel, drawing, photography, zentagle, ice dying, glass mosaics, portraits and figure drawing. Nationally renowned artists travel to South Walton specifically for the purpose of sharing their talent with our community by teaching classes. South Walton area artists teach classes weekly.

Workshop: Holiday Glass Collage Class with Mary Hong

Location: Bayou Arts Center 105 Hogtown Bayou Lane, Santa Rosa Beach, FL

SATURDAY December 6th, 10am til noon; or
FRIDAY December 12, 10am til noon

Class size is limited.

In these classes, we’ll be making Christmas Trees, Angels and Snowmen! (or you can make a sea creature if you’d like!!)

Design and create an original glass art design on canvas or board in a non-traditional mosaic technique developed by Mary. Her techniques will bring sparkle and beauty to a 12″x 12″ canvas. Students are encouraged to bring a small momento that needs honoring or that broken vase/glassware that you just can’t seem to part with. Students will learn how to cut glass and a brief lesson in composition will be taught. This introductory class will get you thinking differently about the glass you see around you. No experience necessary. All supplies provided and is suitable for all skill levels.

Acrylic Collage with Visiting Artist Robert Miller

Two classes offered:

Cultural Arts Alliance - Bayou Arts Center

Robert Miller is an artist from Atlanta, Georgia. He paints or teaches full time. Which, by the way, is his greatest joy to say, when meeting new people. He is involved with the Atlanta collage society, Atlanta artist center, and his work is represented by Sunshine Village in Watkinsville, Georgia. His work has shown in the Quinlain art center and the Modern art museum of Georgia.

Watermedia and Everything I Know will be what he will be teaching. A fun, rip roaring, class of paint ,collage and a touch of encaustics.

The current supply list includes:
Golden liquids, nickel azo yellow #7
quinacridone crimson #7
Anthraguinonoe blue #7
Iridescent bronze with green
Start now looking for an old fancy 8x10 frame and mat to repurpose for best work.
