Kyle Carey, poet and singer-songwriter will be performing as the guest poet of popular local poetry open mic “Say the Word” at the Buddha Lounge, Wednesday, February 20 at 7pm.
Singer-songwriter Kyle Carey studied Scottish Gaelic as a Canadian Fulbright Fellow. Her debut CD, Mononga, was recorded in Ireland with an all-star cast of Irish musicians and folklorists. The title track was selected as a Songwriter’s Universe ‘Best Songs of the Month (April 2011)’ and a ‘Top Critics Pick of 2011’ on WorldMusicCentral.org.
“Say the Word” is a collective group of poets and spoken word artists dedicated to creating a platform for poets and spoken word artists to perform, encouraging local writers to collaborate and network; and making poetry more viable in the community by hosting monthly open mic nights. The monthly open mic nights occur on the third Wednesday of every month at Buddha Lounge in Blue Mountain Beach. Poets mostly perform original works, but are also encouraged to share other poems that inspire them.
