Elmore's Landing is excited to host the Krew of Kazoo - Kids and Family Art, Theatre, Music, Second Line & Mardi Gras class Saturdays beginning January 26th thru March 2nd from 1 -3PM. The object will be to invent a new creative experience for parents and children together. Toward the end of this workshop organizers will determine if the class feels ready to march in the Seaside Mardi Gras Parade. If not, participants of Krew of Kazoo will go to the parade and do research for next year.

Krew of Kazoo ia a family Mardi Gras marching club of Zoo Animals playing Kazoos that will learn...
1. How to play the Second Line on kazoos.
2. How to make your own mask
3. How to march in a Street Theater parade
4. Introduction to Mardi Gras culture

Fees:
Sign up fee of $30. Covers all materials including kazoos and mask making media.
Each of 4 classes after that $10. For a total of $70 for the entire experience. Call Sam Douangdara 850-240-2626 or Eileen West 850-502-1847 to sign up or for additional information.

Schedule:
Sat, Jan. 26th: Sign Up Day 1-3 PM | Revelers will get their 1st Kazoo and meet their instructors. Organizers will present an overview of what they want to accomplish & introduce the Second Line anthem.
Sat, Feb .2nd: 1-3 PM | Intro to Mask Making and Intro to Kazoo Band Street Theater
Sat, Feb. 9th: 1-3 PM | Beginning Mask Making and Beginning Kazoo Band
Sat, Feb. 16th: 1-3 PM | Continuing Mask Making and Continuing Kazoo Band
Sat, Feb. 23rd: 1-3 PM | Marching Club Dress Rehearsal KREWE OF KAZOO Family Marching Band
Tues, March 5th: MARDI GRAS DAY Express Yourself! Feet Don’t Fail Me Now!

Music and Theater will be taught by Jessica Rae. Jessica studied theater performance at Jacksonville State University in Jacksonville, Al from 2002-2005. She taught Acting and Shakespeare for Kids at
Theater West Virginia’s Acting Academy from 2005-2008 as well as performed in the company’s educational touring group for two seasons. Jessica plays guitar and sings with her two children, Evelyn 5, and Aaron 7. She is vitally interested in developing new cultural experiences for kids in our community.

Mask Making will be taught by Katlyn Arnold. Katlyn taught art at Walton Middle School (grades 6-8) for 3 yrs. She now owns Uniquely Clever, an arts resource that includes a school bus renovated to teach art on the fly. Uniquely Clever provides art classes, parties, camps, workshops, and events on a painted traveling art bus for both kids and adults for all occasions. She brings her experience with a wide variety of media to making masks that bring Zoo Animals to Mardi Gras. Her son, Hayden 9, often accompanies his mom on art adventures on the bus and is an invaluable asset to making it all happen.
