Alaqua Animal Refuge introduces Kindness Kollective — a "collection" of integrative healing programs for the mind, body, and spirit. Programs include Yoga, Meditation, Jin Shin Jyutsu, and Therapeutic Art, with more to be added in the future. Classes will be held weekly beginning February 5th at Alaqua Animal Refuge (155 Dugas Way in Freeport, FL) in Alaqua's tepees or courtyard, and do require registration in advance.
Alaqua’s Kindness Kollective aligns perfectly with their overarching vision of creating a kinder, more empathetic, and healthier society for animals and people. Learn more and sign up for classes: Kindness Kollective - Alaqua
During this workshop you will experience a 60-minute all levels grounding and intuitive yoga practice lead by Cynthia Mitchell of Eka Earth. It will be followed by a 60-minute self-help session of the harmonizing and healing art of Jin Shin Jyutsu, lead by Adele Leas (an internationally known teacher and proponent of Jin Shin Jyutsu for people and animals.) You will also learn breathing exercises and self-help techniques for managing stress to incorporate into your daily lives. Please be sure to wear warm comfortable clothing for outdoor weather, bring your own yoga mat and blankets or comfort items to stay warm during stillness, and a refillable water bottle.
Feb. 12 @ 11AM | Jin Shin Jyutsu
Participants will learn daily regenerating flows to strengthen the immune, digestive, musculature and elimination systems. When practiced daily, JSJ helps alleviate past trauma and allows one to move forward. Please be sure to wear warm comfortable clothing for outdoor weather, bring your own blankets or comfort items to stay warm during stillness, and a refillable water bottle.
Feb. 19 @ 11 AM | Yoga by Eka Earth
Eka Earth yoga is inspired by Earth's elements and a harmonious relationship to the Earth. Their hopes are that you step off the mat feeling refreshed, at ease, and inspired to live your fullest life. Please be sure to wear warm comfortable clothing for outdoor weather, bring your own yoga mat and blankets or comfort items to stay warm during stillness, and a refillable water bottle.
Feb. 26 @ Noon | Meditation — Sound Journey
Join Beverly Kennedy, the Bodywork Babe for the "Call of the Wild Sound Journey," a sonic exploration into the healing dynamics of the natural world. Beverly is a Babaylan Filipinx Shaman from the remote island of Namanday, focusing her practice on massage therapy, sound healing, energy work, and awareness training. Prepare for transformation by connecting to nature and the creatures of the natural world, including yourself. What to bring: Yoga Mat • Snuggly/Comfy/Cozy • Water • Crystals/Journal/Altar Blessings • Eye Mask • Prepare for the cold by packing warm thoughts.

Alaqua’s Kindness Kollective is an expansion of their programs to offer individuals a chance to experience the healing power that animals can have on their mental health. This unique model addresses the mental health challenges of our present world by creating a program that utilizes the healing power of animals in healing the human heart.
Alaqua Founder Laurie Hood discovered that people from all walks of life, all nationalities, and all ages were drawn to what she created at the Refuge. The common thread that brought them together were the animals, but their stories were all the same.
Alaqua Animal Refuge is a no-kill animal shelter and sanctuary, located in the panhandle of Florida. Committed to providing protection, shelter and care to animals in need, this private, non-profit Refuge also offers a full-service adoption center, educational outreach, and community programs that extend far beyond their geographic location. Since its inception in 2007, Alaqua has become a recognized leader in animal rescue, welfare, cruelty prevention, and advocacy. To learn more, visit www.Alaqua.org
