I am getting my little kiddies, Evan age 9, Mikelynn 7 on Monday after the weekend. I only have them for the week, probably taking them back Saturday. I'll list some things I plan on doing with them and if anyone has something to slip in there, I'd love the suggestion. I have some fun little things but maybe even jst that one great suggestio could be the best part of their visit.

1. Ride bikes along 30-A, around Seaside and the trials of WaterColor.
2. Take them to their spot in the Eastern Lake run up to the Gulf and maybe Western lake as well.
3. Take them kayaking and fishing in a dune lake.
4. Throw frisbee and run in the Seaside ampitheatre.
5. Then buy them each a Frost Bite and steal some from them.
6. Take them to some springs if the water is not too high. Maybe even up around Marianna and the caves as well. But that's about an hour and 45 minutes away.
7. Maybe go to Pier Park and walk through that new mirror maze thingie. But it's like 10 bucks per person, that's 30 total for all three of us. Kinda pricey. I wonder if I could talk them down like in Jamaica?
8. Buy some Cajun Popcorn and whatever flavor they want at the popcorn place in Pier Park.
9. Walk trails in Washington State Forest.
10. Play chess.
11. Make a movie with a video camera, possibly with Evan's Pokemon.
12. Kiss and hug :D
13. Destin Commons, for an outfit for one of Mikelynn's dolls and maybe a movie. (btw, pronouunced Mike-Lynn) Also because Evan likes to run through the shooting water there.
14. Tree house and park in Bytowne Warf.

That's things that come to mind. I wonder what other gem could be discovered by our little trio. I'll bet that hands on science place is still in Fort Walton but I don't see us venturing over there. I absolutely can't wait for my little creatures to pound into my chest and for my arms to envelop around them.

the new playground at Alys Beach is great and Fonville Press has the best, most reasonably priced, soft ice cream on 30A IMO. (good coffee at a reasonable price too)

The Junior Museum in Panama City is a cool place...and Gulf World for the dolphin show....

Have funn!

Some of the State Parks in the panhandle were closed due to flooding and Florida Caverns was on the list - check before you go - http://www.floridastateparks.org

Go to Deer Lake State Park and walk over to the Camp Creek outflow. It is amazing right now.

Teach them to post us up a photo.

MAKE and then fly your own kites on the beach.
How to Make a Traditional Kite

Make 'windchimes/mobiles/dreamcatchers' out of items you find during your nature walks (shells, stones, driftwood, feathers)
Mobiles You Can Make - EnchantedLearning.com

Learn some of the star formations/planets that will be in the sky during their stay and take them out to the beach at night, show them the constellations, and tell them the stories of the constellations.
http://hubblesite.org/explore_astronomy/tonights_sky/

Buy/make/decorate birdhouses and put them in your yard.

Get some quik-crete and have them make hand and foot impressions; sign their names/date and decorate with shells, beads, colored glass and other inexpensive objects they like; keep these in your garden.

Write a group diary of your daily activites--at night, ask them questions such as, "What did you learn that was new today?," "What was your favorite activity today?," "What didn't you like today?," "What made you happy and what made you sad today?" "What did you learn about Daddy/the kids today that you never knew before?" "What is your favorite song/color/food/animal?" Keep this diary with your very favorite books and maybe add to it during each visit.

Son of a gun, those are some great suggestions. Wow! The stuff in Alys beach sound s great. I hope Camp Creek is still moving by next week, but it's hard to imagine it will be at that pace. If it would be we'd kayak up to it.

I'll have to look in at that junior museum in PC. Didn't know about that. And yes, Kurt, I'd read that post about the state park closings and was definately going to check on that. That nature tour sounds up to my liking. I didn't know about a preserve there.

And my son plays Guitar Hero so he may want to participate at that. Funny thing is, I can tear up the guitar but in first trying Guitar Hero, I sucked lol

And Shelly, wow, sounds like you've had kids and if not, too bad because they would have benefitted from that type of thinking. You know, I think like that but sometimes don't manifest it. But I do things. I wish I had Adobe and the after effects or whatever it's called. I'd love to make some grade A movies with my son, who is a lot like me. He's very creative and writes and is amazing, but he's like me in scary ways too. I hope I can get him pointed on a good course. He's a great 9 year old and in ways a much better man than I.

Thanks everyone for your help. I didn't expect such an extensive list of quality suggestions. :yikes:

And yes, Kurt, I will have them post here.

Wow, Shelly. I checked out that Hubble website and a meteor shower will be occurring around that time. I had panned on taking them to the beach at night in hopes of spotting shooting stars. They said 16 to 20 an hour or so. Great site. That will be something they'll remember. I wish I had a sophisticated enough video recorder to capture that for you guys. I'm not sure if they've ever seen a shooting star before. I remember last year fishing in a dune lake at night and seeing a bunch. Anyway, thanks again.
