WaltonOutdoors.com and 30A Radio are organizing a beautiful paddle, swim and picnic on Sept. 13. Grab your kayak, canoe or YOLO, and your snorkeling gear as we explore the springs for a fun family-oriented day at Morrison Springs.
The fun starts around 10 a.m. Putter around and explore the beautiful cypress trees, then dive into the water to explore the beauty of the spring vent.
Morrison Springs is a 161-acre County park and popular with divers and nature enthusiasts. There are boardwalks meandering through the ancient cypress trees, and span into the springs to a diver?s launching area, a 10?10 ft. floating concrete platform. There is a picnic area, restroom facilities, a pavilion, showers and handicap access. There is also a small beach area for children.

Walton Outdoors and 30A Radio welcomes naturalist Joe Wyatt
Joe Wyatt, local ecologist, wildlife biologist and naturalist will be available to share his expertise and answer questions about local wildlife and ecosystems on Sept. 13.
As a the naturalist at Hammock Bay, Joe has been running a successful bluebird breeding program to increase the numbers of these beautiful indigenous birds in the area. He is also an expert on local ecosystems and forestry management.
Come and meet Joe as we explore Mother Nature's beauty at Morrison Springs.
About the springs
The highlight of the park is a 250-foot diameter spring pool that produces an estimated 48 million gallons of crystal clear water each day and has been recorded to produce up to 70 million gallons a day. Three cavities allow Morrison?s frigid waters to surface from the underground aquifer. The deepest of these cavities, at approximately 300 foot in depth, eventually terminates in an underground chamber of unknown dimensions.
Directions
Morrison Springs is located in the most southeastern part of Ponce deLeon just inside the Walton County line. From Freeport, take State Road 20 east to State Road 81 and go north past Red Bay to County Highway 181C. Turn right and continue 1.6 miles. Turn a right on Morrison Springs Road. Click here for map
