Anyone know of someone in the area who knows how to fix a power jack on a laptop? I talked with a company in Destin and they said it's the mother board. My friend took a laptop there and they told him the same thing and it wasn't that at all... I have a hard time believing it's the motherboard on every laptop they see. My powercord has enough flowing through it, but when it's connected to the computer it doesn't charge it at all. SO - if anyone knows someone who could fix the power jack please let me know. Thanks!

I'm no computer geek. I have been through a few laptops, and have had issues with power cords needing to be replaced, as well as batteries, and even had one power cord melt into the back of a laptop.

Take the battery out and keep your power cord in. If it has power, the propblem may be the battery. If it doesn't have power after doing this, you may need a new power cord.

Definitely take SJ's advice. I'm having a similar issue with mine. We have put three different batteries in it and none are charging. Now when a battery is in it the whole system goes haywire. I'm taking it up to our main office monday. I'll let you know what our tech finds out.

One other note: Many of the laptop batteries have been recalled. I've had two different brand laptops which had battery recalls, but the only way I found out was when I was having battery problems, and searched online for technical help. My battery was listed as being recalled, but when I called Toshiba, they said it wasn't on the list to be recalled. I argued and informed the guy that I was looking at Toshiba's website at the recall notice, and continued to press the issue and told him that if my house burned down, with my pets inside, it was all going back to him personally, since Toshiba warns against fire potential for that particular battery. He slowly came around to seeing the light. I really didn't understand why he was being so difficult since Sony, the battery maker, was flipping the bill for the recall. Toshiba promptly overnighted me a replacement battery. Again, no notice of the recall was given. I had to google it. I encourage you to google it too, for your model computer.

Thanks everyone!! Apparently the threat of me asking the sowal board for help fixed the computer!! woo-hoo!!! I made the decision to call the first person who pm'd me; then removed the battery, plugged it in, replaced the battery and it started to re-charge like nothing was ever wrong!! LOL!!

I will double check on the battery recall thing though. That stuff is just scary to me. Don't want to mess with recalled anything.
