South Walton residents and beach lovers will join hands once again on the beach in Gulf Place on Saturday, May 21, to help raise awareness to protect our shores and embrace clean energy.
The annual Hands Across the Sand gathering will take place at noon on Saturday on the beach at the Ed Walline Park beach access in Gulf Place. Check in is at 11:00 a.m.
Hands Across the Sand is global and will be taking place throughout Florida as well as around the US and other countries as far as Australia where events are planned, on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. (in your time zone).
STEP 1
Go to an event location near you at 11 AM, in your time zone, for one hour, rain or shine.
STEP 2
Join hands for 15 minutes at 12:00 PM, in your time zone, forming lines in the sand, or on the land, against dirty fuels. Say yes to clean energy and renewables.
STEP 3
Leave only your footprints. In addition, consider getting involved in a local organization that supports clean energy.
Feb 2015 Seaside Florida
Hands Across the Sand event began on South Walton Beaches in February 2010. Hands Across the Sand quickly grew into an international movement after the BP oil disaster in April of that year. People came together to join hands, forming symbolic barriers against spilled oil and to stand against the impacts of other forms of extreme energy.
April 2010 Seaside FL
Join hands to embrace clean energy. “It’s the most important thing we can do as human beings” Dave Rauschkolb, founder.
Hands Across The Sand is held annually in Florida and on beaches, waterways and land all around the world. The event is intended to bring awareness about the dangers inherent in securing and burning dirty fuels and to champion a new era of Clean Energy for a sustainable planet for our children and theirs.
May 21, 2016 is the time to stand united and embrace a stronger-than-ever appreciation for what's really important -- our coastal environment, clear emerald waters, our sugar-white sandy beaches, and our way of life. Come out to Ed Walline Park for a big group hug on the beach.
It’s time to start pulling together your events now! Just click on your state or globe for existing international events and/or begin the process of organizing a 15 minute event near you. See Hands Across the Sand website for events around the world.
