Cajun music, door prizes and gumbo served by local restaurants at The Market Shops at Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort, are featured at the Great Southern Gumbo Cook-off from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Jan. 14.
Chubby Carrier and the Bayou Swamp Band will provide authentic zydeco music. Attendees can try samples of gumbo from nine award-winning restaurants.
Judges will hold a ?blind? judging for ?The Critics? Choice? awards, as well as a ?Best Display? award for the best overall visual presentation by the participants, while festival attendees will vote for ?The People?s Choice? award. Guests will register to win lunch or dinner certificates to the cook- off event?s participating restaurants when they vote for ?The People?s Choice? award.
The awards ceremony will be at 2:30 p.m.
