Gulf Cemetery will be celebrating it’s centennial birthday with the unveiling a marker at their Memorial observance to be held Monday, May 26[SUP]th[/SUP] recognizing the site by the State of Florida as a historical landmark. The public is invited to attend a one hour ceremony scheduled for 10am at the cemetery located on State Road 393 south.
The Memorial Day event will include keynote remarks by Rev. Don Ullrich, Colonel, retired USAF. The Historic Marker will be unveiled by Michael Zimny, Specialist with the State of Florida Historical Council.
In honor of veterans, the World War II vintage planes known as “The War Birds” will be conducting an honorary “Fly Over” in a missing man formation. At the conclusion of the ceremonies attendees will be invited to place American flags at veterans graves.
In the event of rain, the ceremony will be conducted at the Chapel at High Point, located across SR 393 from the cemetery.
