My wife and I ate ate goatfeathers 2 years ago. It was so good we ate there twice. Has it gone down hill or are the other places just so much better. Reading this board, seems its not that good any more.

What about buy fresh seafood on a Sunday afternoon. Will I have to drive all the way to Destin?

Eww! Jfunn and I worked there for about 27 minutes. Long enough to put on the t-shirt, walk in the kitchen and then run out. I think it's fine for fresh seafood at the market, but anything prepared on site looked atrocious. The cook was dipping something fried in a vat of Ranch Dressing. I think it's that bad and there are much better places!

We "worked" there back in the summer of 2000 I think. Not sure if anything has changed, but I don't go near the place.

DITTO - the spouse enjoys shrimp from their seafood market, but I don't go near the place.

Pat,

We buy fresh shrimp there and bring it home to grill. You need to get there early in the day (before 3pm) before they run out of everything. The fresh seafood is great there. I don't know what part of 30A you will be staying at, but there is also a King's (I think that's the name) seafood market on 30A, around Seagrove, I believe. We've never stopped there, but it looks busy when we drive by. Anyone have a comment?

Ditto, I will buy fish in the market, but I stopped eating upstairs after my third visit, which was no different from the first and second visits -- all of which would probably not be too different from my fourth visit if I so chose to go today.

Maybe they should convert Goatfeathers into a formal dining restaurant. :rotfl:

For good old fashion fried seafood, go to Bayou Bills on Hwy 98.

BoonDocks is on my list to try, but I never seem to make it that far east for just a meal. Bayou bills is much closer to my house. ;-)

we have eaten there twice in 6 years, and it was disgusting. the food was mediocre at best, service awful, and the place was filthy...

as far as fresh seafood, is shrimpers till open ?

We've never tried the restaurant, but we buy all of our fresh seafood at the Seagrove Goatfeathers. You can call in orders if you don't want to leave the beach before 3 when they start getting low on inventory. We like to call in and get them to steam shrimp so we don't have to wait. Along with a salad that I've thrown together, it's our favorite lunch.

We always shop at King's. We've never been disappointed. Shrimp and fish are always fresh and the prices are reasonable.
