From Shelves to Shores Reading Program for kids
Join Choctawhatchee Basin Alliance (CBA) at Coastal Branch Library for the Spring "From Shelves to Shores" reading program on one Saturday morning per month from January through May, 2017 beginning at 10:00 am.
Dates: Jan 21, Feb 25, March 25, April 22 and May 13.
Each month (Jan thru May) the Coastal Branch Library in South Walton will host the Choctawhatchee Basin Alliance to provide a fun, hands-on activity for children of all ages! Activities will include growing Spartina alterniflora in salt marsh nurseries and learning about the Choctawhatchee Bay. The project coincides with the library’s Winter Reading Challenge. Children who visit the library will be encouraged to read books throughout the winter months. If a child reads 10 books between January and May, they will get a paper oyster with a pearl that can climb a sea oat to a prize! It will take 3 reading logs returned or 30 books recorded to win the prize.
Activites will take place on Saturdays from 10-11am on the following dates:
Jan 21: Salt Marsh Exploration
Feb 24: The Crafty Oyster
Mar 25: Water Pollution Wipeout
Apr 22: Touch Tanks
May 13: Planting Field Trip
For more information please contact Amanda Briant at (850) 200-4168 or Belinda Balzer at (850) 267-2809
