Saturday, Oct. 22, 2011, 8 a.m. to noon, residents can deposit their hazardous materials at no charge at two locations in Walton County.
It is the county’s Haz-Mat Collection Day, a project to collect, recycle, treat and properly dispose of household hazardous wastes.
Items that can be dropped off include: pesticides, used oil, stale gasoline, solvents, fertilizers, pain and paint solvents, batteries, furniture polish, brake fluid, engine degreasers, anti freeze, pool chemicals, spot removers, computer hardware including processors, monitors, keyboards, printers and scanners.
Residents may also bring in up to 12 tires at no charge.
Small quantity generators from commercial concerns are conditionally exempt but will be accepted at a reduced rate. Those items can be scheduled for drop off by call (850) 892-8180.
No gas cylinders or explosives will be accepted.
