Orvis hosts free fly fishing classes on Saturdays in June each summer and spots are still available for upcoming classes.
The fly fishing classes were first introduced as an initiative by Orvis in 2009 in response to a decline of interest in the sport. Since then, over 15,000 people have learned to fly fish through the free fly fishing classes nationwide.

“Most fly fisherman are conservationists,” said Jan Peele, manager of The Orvis Company in Grand Boulevard. “We are trying to break down the barrier to make fly fishing more accessible to the average person, not only for business, but to promote conservation in the community.”
Orvis began as a fly fishing company in 1856. Peele, an avid fly fisherman, began working for Orvis in Myrtle Beach in 2008 and has been managing the Grand Boulevard store for almost two years.
The Orvis philosophy is distinguished from other companies' because their employees are encouraged to engage in conversation that builds lasting relationships with their customers.
“We want to know when your birthday is and how many kids you have,” Peele said of customer relations.
Fly fishing class spaces are limited and are first come, first serve. Call today to reserve your spot 850-650-2174.Orvis2012.jpg
