FLUTTERBY FESTIVAL TO FEATURE CURIOUS MOON PUPPETS AND OTHER FUN ENTERTAINMENT FOR THE FAMILY
Rosemary Beach will be the place for kids to flitter November 13 & 14

The Cultural Arts Association of Walton County is excited to announce that Georgia-based Curious Moon Puppets will be a featured act at the Flutterby Children?s Arts Festival taking place in Rosemary Beach this November 13 & 14.

The Flutterby Festival, which was named to celebrate the annual migration of the Monarch butterfly through the area, will be a place for kids to flitter, offering an exciting and diverse array of activities along Rosemary Beach?s South Barrett Square, Main Street and Western Green. This fall family tradition is a perfect chance for residents and visitors to enjoy a fun-filled weekend outdoors in the Beaches of South Walton. The Flutterby Festival is sponsored by the Merchants of Rosemary Beach and will take place from 10:00am until 4:00pm both days.

Puppeteer Evy Wright of Curious Moon Puppets will present performances throughout the weekend of The Princess and the Frog on the ?Butterfly Stage? in the courtyard next to Town Hall. The show is the story of a princess, a frog, a magic wishing well, a prince, and a whole lot of sneezing - all the ingredients for a hilarious take on The Frog Prince. The show will be followed by a demonstration speech about the puppets and puppeteering.

On Saturday, Festival attendees can also catch live music by The Steenos and dance performances by Seaside DanceWave. On Sunday, there will be live music by Kelsey Johnson and Matt Miller, and actors from the Seaside Repertory Theatre will take kids on an interactive storytelling adventure. Nonie?s Ark will be there on Sunday with furry and reptilian friends that kids can meet and touch. Flutterby will also feature around a dozen artists and organizations exhibiting and selling artwork created especially for and by children.

Kids will enjoy street games, face painting, hula hooping and bounce houses. They can build butterfly puppets and make other crafts. There will be street and mural painting, and kids can also create their own butterfly wing masterpieces that can be worn for the butterfly costume parade each afternoon at 3:00. 30A Radio will be on site all weekend playing fun tunes.

Throughout the weekend, Master Gardener and Master Naturalist Snookie Parrish will be teaching children the art and science of building their own butterfly garden, and kids will have a chance to take home their very own butterfly plant. Hundreds of butterfly paintings created by Walton County students will fill South Barrett Square welcoming families to the Flutterby Festival. Flutterby attendees can also enjoy delicious food and sweet treats plus tour all the great shops and galleries that Rosemary Beach has to offer.

The CAA has produced a special Flutterby Calendar that showcases a different Walton County student?s butterfly artwork each month. Calendars can be purchased at the following locations: Rosemary Beach Trading Company and Gigi?s Fabulous Kids? Fashion & Toys in Rosemary Beach, Seaside Kids and Sundog Books in Seaside, Little Red in WaterColor (next to Publix) and Learning Express in Grand Boulevard. The calendars will also be sold at the Festival. All proceeds will benefit the CAA?s Educational Giving Program, which provides $20,000 in grants and scholarships to Walton County students and teachers annually.

The Flutterby Children?s Arts Festival is sponsored by the Merchants of Rosemary Beach. Admission to the Flutterby Festival is free, although some activities may require a small fee. For more information, please visit CulturalArtsAssociation.com or call 850-622-5970.
