Artist Showcase: Woody Long Art Exhibition, and Blue Sea Collective
Amavida Coffee and Anne Hunter Galleries kick off the fall season at 25 Central Square with a performance by Balder Saunders on October 4th to mark the 10-year anniversary of Woodie Long’s first art exhibition in Seaside. The artist’s widow, Dot Long, pays tribute to Seaside and her husband’s art career that began one decade ago in Seaside, where Long would launch his career and become a renowned primitive artist, beloved locally and nationally recognized by the Smithsonian.
The opening of the Woodie Long Anniversary show at Amavida will coincide with the opening of the Blue Sea Collective at Anne Hunter Galleries. A body of work created by two well-known local favorites, Didon Comer and Kris Chavez, the exhibition features the colors and landscapes of Walton County. Both shows will run through 2019.
About 25 Central Square
CELEBRATE THE ART OF LOVING LIFE within steps of the Gulf of Mexico at 25 Central Square in Seaside, Florida. Known for its colorful purple street-art mural, depicting Vincent Scully, Jr., the American art historian who was a Sterling Professor of the History of Art in Architecture at Yale University, 25 Central is the only building dedicated to an arts collective on Scenic Highway 30A. The historic structure, commissioned by Robert & Daryl Davis, was designed by Machedo-Silvetti Architects in 1990 in harmony with the design by Andres Duany and Lizz Plater-Zyberk for the master plan of Seaside. Overlooking the town square, 25 Central aspires to a strong civic expression that is especially suited for 30A’s most established purveyors and beloved artisans. – Art of Simple, La Vie Est Belle, Amavida Coffee and Anne Hunter Galleries.
