Farmers Market to open in Freeport May 2

Farmers? markets in both North and South Walton County ? Join the Fun

The Agriculture and Communities Together (ACT) Walton coalition announces the creation of a new farmers? market in Walton County. The new market will open on Saturday, May 2nd from 8:00 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Owl?s Head in Freeport. This open air market will operate weekly at the Owl?s Head Sales Center, located at 11286 Hwy. 331 South.

Owl?s Head Farmers? Market will be the second to open in Walton County. Seaside currently hosts a weekly farmer?s market. ?These markets provide local growers and vendors with direct sale opportunities and provide consumers with a variety of locally grown produce, homemade products, and a fun shopping experience, ?said ACT Walton coordinator Kendra Zamojski.

Vendors interested in selling produce, homemade goods, arts and crafts should contact the Walton County Extension office at 850-892-8172. Vendors must register but will not be charged a vendor fee.

ACT Walton is local coalition coordinated by Walton County Extension. The purpose of ACT Walton is to improve access to local food and local products and to promote local agriculture and local business. The next ACT Walton meeting will be held on Tuesday, April 21th at 3:00 pm at the Old Post Office Community Center in Freeport, located at 41 Highway 20 East.
For more information or to register, call Kendra Zamojski at 850-892-8172 or hughson@ufl.edu
