Singer/songwriter Melanie Hammet has performed her original songs in a variety of venues including New York City , Nashville , and New Orleans . She has also written, performed and directed music for Atlanta ?s Horizon Theatre and Alliance Theatre. Hammet will perform songs from her solo recordings Map of Glass and Under the Same Sky. Hors d?oeuvres will be provided, and a cash bar will be available.

Author and popular speaker David Magee will conduct a writer?s workshop on ?How to Get Published.? Co-hosted by The Seaside Institute and the Cultural Arts Association, the workshop is free and open to the public.
Magee is the author of nine non-fiction books, including Playing to Win: Jerry Jones and the Dallas Cowboys, MoonPie, Turnaround, and The John Deere Way . His works have been reviewed in the New York Times, the Boston Globe and the Wall Street Journal. He has made multiple appearances on Bloomberg TV, CNBC, and Associated Press Radio. Magee?s most recent book, How Toyota Became # 1, received a Starred Review from the American Library Association?s Booklist, a rave review from the Wall Street Journal, and has been translated into five languages.

David Magee, noted author of nine non-fiction books, will sign copies of his popular 2006 book, Moonpie, which was called ?essential reading? by Library Journal and named a Notable Non-Fiction Book of that year by the Atlanta Constitution Journal.

David Magee will read from his 2006 book Moonpie and will offer a preview of his exciting residency project. Based on the true story of a black folk artist and janitor who was secretly mentored in the art department of the University of Mississippi over a decade prior to integration, The Education of Mr. Mayfield is scheduled for publication with John Blair later this year.
Wendy Reed is the writer, producer and director of the Emmy-nominated literary interview series Bookmark. She will screen her compelling documentary film, The Story of Faunsdale Plantation, which she also wrote, directed and produced for The Alabama Experience, a cultural and historical series that aired on Alabama Public T. V.
