South Walton, near the bay
Consistently ranked among the most beautiful and pristine beaches in the world, South Walton’s state parks also offer thousands of acres for hiking, biking, camping and having water fun of all kinds. Idyllic setting for swimming, sunbathing and surf fishing and is the backdrop for golden sunrises and silver moonlit evenings. Diverse ecosystems offer a glimpse into Mother Nature’s private and sometimes secret world.

Managed by the Florida Department of Environmental Protection Agency, the state provides a number of days throughout the year with free admittance.

Coming up are
Sunday, Sept. 11 – Literacy Month – Free with library card, library book or donation of family-friendly book.
Friday, Nov. 11 – Veterans Day – Free for all.

However, if you are a dedicated naturalist, annual entrance passes allow park entrance in lieu of the daily entrance fee. Passes are honored at all state parks, except for Skyway Fishing Pier State Park, where they are valid for a 33 percent discount.

The individual annual entrance pass is valid for the named cardholder only. Cost for those accompanying the pass holder is $2 per person except at Ellie Schiller Homosassa Springs Wildlife State Park and Weeki Wachee Springs State Park where the standard admission fee will apply.

A Family Annual Entrance Pass is valid for up to eight people in a group, except at Ellie Schiller Homosassa Springs Wildlife State Park and Weeki Wachee Springs State Park.

Entrance passes do not waive other special use fees charged at some parks for special events, camping or activities such as boat tours, tubing, fishing piers, gardens admission or additional local. An Annual Entrance Pass is valid for one year from the month of purchase.
