Time is precious. Spend yours with family and friends this holiday season is by taking in a quality professional performance of the play “A Wrinkle in Time,” a sci-fi/fantasy classic tale of good versus evil and the triumph of love.
Emerald Coast Theatre Company (ECTC) will stage the classic tale December 7-23 at its performance space located upstairs at 560 Grand Boulevard in Grand Boulevard at Sandestin, located in Miramar Beach, Florida.
There are 11 performances. The show opens on Thursday, Dec.7 and runs through Sunday, Dec. 23. Performance are Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings at 7:30 p.m. with Sunday matinees at 2 p.m. There is an additional matinee on Saturday, Dec. 23.
Based on the acclaimed 1963 novel by Madeleine L'Engle, the play adapted for the stage by John Glore, is an enthralling story that centers on one of literature's most enduring young, heroines, Meg Murry. Meg joins forces with Mrs. Whatsit, her younger brother, Charles Wallace, and her friend, Calvin O'Keefe, and more to battle the forces of evil so she can rescue her father, a gifted scientist, from the forces of evil that hold him prisoner on another planet, save humanity and find herself.
This performance of “A Wrinkle in Time” is directed by Nathanael Fisher. The cast includes: Teagan Faust of Crestview (Meg); Jen Fuller of Panama City (Charles Wallace); Jared Sellick of Panama City Beach as Calvin; Jason Hedden of Panama City Beach (Mrs. Whatsit/Man with Red Eyes); Rachel Eilend-Hall of Panama City (Mrs. Murry) and Bruce Collier of DeFuniak Springs (Mrs. Which/Mr. Murry).
Costumes are by Anna Fisher. Lighting design and technical direction is by Cory Tucker and stage management is by Bridgett Bryant.
“’A Wrinkle in Time’ is perfect for both adult and family audiences,” said ECTC producing artistic director Nathanael Fisher. “As a father of three girls this story is meaningful, because we have a female protagonist that faces her fears and overcomes them. In this world where we are fighting for equality, it is a timely story of empowerment.”
ECTC is collaborating with The Public Eye, the animation/video production company based in Panama City, to incorporate special digital effects into the storytelling of the piece.
“We are thrilled to bring this piece of classic literature to life on stage in an incredible creative way,” said Fisher.
The running time is 75 minutes. This production is appropriate for ages 5 and up (no lap children please). Tickets are $28 for adults, $24 for seniors, and $20 and can be purchased online at EmeraldCoastTheatre.org, or by calling (850) 684-0323.

This is the second offering of the 5th anniversary 2017-2018 season, which continues with “The Amish Project” by Jessica Dickey is a riveting docudrama set for January 18-28, 2018; and A.R. Gurney’s romantic comedy “Sylvia” Feb. 15-March 4, 2018.
