ECTC 2017-2018 SEASON
"This fifth-year season is such an exciting time for Emerald Coast Theater Company,” said ECTC producing artistic director Nathanael Fisher. “It is thrilling to be presenting programming for the whole community — we truly have something for any age! We are grateful to our community for its unwavering support of our growing theater company and invite everyone to come join as we celebrate this humbling milestone throughout the season.”
After five years, ECTC has clearly established itself as a professional theater company focused on staging thought-provoking productions, festivals and creative collaborations as well as a valued community resource for professional acting, improv workshops and even creative corporate team building.
ECTC has expanded its professional main stage productions to four. The 2017-18 season will include a musical comedy, a play, a docudrama and a romantic comedy.
All professional mainstage production schedules are Thursday (opening night) through Saturday at 7:30 p.m. with Sunday matinees at 2 p.m. (unless noted otherwise). And all ECTC productions will be staged at ECTC’s space located upstairs at 560 Grand Boulevard in Grand Boulevard at Sandestin, located in Miramar Beach, Florida.

I Love You, You're Perfect, Now Change
“I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change” with music by Jimmy Roberts, book and lyrics by Joe Dipietro opens the seasonSept. 14, 2017 and runs through Oct. 1, 2017. A musical comedy with everything you ever secretly thought about dating, romance, marriage, lovers, husbands, wives and in-laws, but were afraid to admit. This production runs 120 minutes and is appropriate for ages 13 and up due to some mature themes and language.
A Wrinkle in Time
“A Wrinkle in Time” by Madeleine L'Engle, adapted by John Glore is set for Dec. 7-23, 2017. The running time is 75 minutes and includes an additional matinee on Saturday, Dec. 23 at 2 p.m. One of literature's most enduring young heroines, Meg Murry, is back-stubbornness, braces, and all. Once again, she's joining forces with Mrs. Whatsit, Charles Wallace, Calvin O'Keefe and more to battle the forces of evil so she can rescue her father, save humanity and find herself. In the end, we know two things for sure: 1. Love can overcome evil and 2. There is such a thing as a tesseract. Appropriate for ages 5 and up (no lap children please).
The Amish Project
“The Amish Project” by Jessica Dickey is a 90-minute docudrama set for January 18-28, 2018.
A fictional exploration of the Nickel Mines schoolhouse shooting in an Amish community, “The Amish Project” explores the path of forgiveness and compassion forged in its wake. Due to mature content, this production is appropriate for ages 13 and up.
Sylvia
A modern romantic comedy about a marriage and a dog, A.R. Gurney’s “Sylvia” centers on the world of a middle-aged New York couple turned topsy-turvy when the husband brings home an exceptionally engaging canine running loose in Central Park. “Sylvia” will be staged Feb. 15 through March 4. It runs 120 minutes and is appropriate for ages 13 and up due to mature situations.
Ticket prices for the musical production, “I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change,” are $30 for adult, $26 for senior, $22 student for the musical. Tickets for non-musical productions are $28 for adults, $24 for seniors, and $20 for students.
YOUNG AUDIENCES | EDUCATIONAL THEATER
ECTC’s Professional Theatre for Young Audiences (TYA) 2017-18 season will features three productions: “The Musical Adventures of Flat Stanley,” Oct. 13-28; “A Mark Twain Storybook,” Jan. 26-Feb. 3 and “Aesop's Fables” April 6-14. All TYA performances are held on Friday and Saturdays at 10 a.m. at 560 Grand Boulevard, upstairs. Tickets are $10. (Student and group discounts are available.)
