Electric and natural gas prices...???

Is it just me or is everyone else's Gulf Power bill twice as much as this time last year?? They are trying to tell me that it is now $320 per month because I am using more energy this year. Of course, I was working at home AND homeschooling my son last year,... had both TV's and both computers on....AIR conditioning turned on higher.. but they are trying to convince me that although no one is here all day now, and we turn the thermostat up to 82 degrees, I am using more energy. They also claim the price of coal went up 10% in January. Oh and the funniest of all is that "It's hotter this year than last year"... well I have documentation of the temerature for every day for the past 2 years that says differently.:angry: so... is it just me?

Yeah, mine was over $330.00. I have found here, natural gas is more expensive than electicity.

Why don't you call Gulf Power and ask for a power analysist? They send a person out to your house and they go over eveything electric and can tell you exactly how much power each thing uses. It's a free service and I found it to be very interesting as well.

The part of my bill from the amount of electricity used was about the same as last year for August, but CHELCO hit us with about $75 of charges for 'customer fee' and 'wholesale adjustment fee' Hopefully, it's a one-time deal and not a permanent addition.

Isn't that ridiculous that you have to pay a fee to be a customer AND pay the outrageous bills as well? Gulf Power has a $10.00 per month customer fee.
