North 395 has been in the list of projects for a long long long time - a decade? Must be a problem with Walton County Public Works - design, permitting, or rights of way...

The plan is to add turn lanes I think and maybe widen it in spots a bit and add a bike lane.

But you're right it is way past repave - holes, cracks everywhere. The school traffic is heavy and gets backed up where residents can't get in and out blocking lanes for 1/4 mile sometimes.

Crossing 98 while on 395 by bicycle is an extremely risky
endeavor. As there is no bike lane on the north side you have to play with the cars and trucks. Once you get the green light going south, thats when the fun starts. The vehicles on both sides are rushing to get thru the light. If you make it across unscathed, you have to contend with the folks coming from the west on 98. They take that goofy right turn onto 395 at or above highway speeds, with most not even looking, espesially for a bike rider. Once you have dodged all these hazards, you still have to risk life and limb to get over to the existing bike path on the east side that does not even start till about a 1/4 mile south. You have to watch for the folks coming off 98 behind you, and also the folks coming from the south most of which are doing 60 mph or more.
It’s like Bull fighting without a cape!

I might have seen sand pines coming up amongst the grass on 395 ...

I think it's bad all over. In Louisville, every pothole patched becomes another pothole no longer after. It looks like a too dry cookie mix instead of wet enough to hold together - unprofessional opinion. Contractors using subpar material to make more money? (I always think the worst.) Ellen

There's a terrible product that comes in bags from Home Improvement stores. It's essentially pea gravel covered in tar. I've never seen it last more than a few weeks.
