I would love to see a cooking class for kids. My daughter is 12 and loves to cook, but most of the classes she has taken end up being something along the line of making Rice Krispie treats, peanut butter/banana sandwiches, smoothies, and occassionally pizza made on premade crust. She is disappointed most of the time and so are the other kids. I think if someone really was interested in teaching a, dare I say, "advanced" or even an "intermediate" class, people would love to send their kids. Kids can do a lot more than you think in the kitchen. Just mho.

The kids may already be aware of this, but there is great info to be had on youtube. Knife technique video, cooking technique (saute, braise, fry etc..) I am sure there are videos on pasta making and just about anything you can imagine. I would have loved to have resources like this at their age.I agree.. I have a 12 year old step son in a home ec class (it is a requirement at his school)....rice crispy treats...please. He likes to cook at home. And is very creative. He hates his class and wishes it would be more real life.

My husband is the chef at Bud and Alley's and he is doing some things with the kids from the Seaside School, teaching them to use the herbs and veggies they are growing. What age child and what kind of cooking are you looking for?
