Bay Grove Montessori School, located off 331-S in Freeport, Florida, is searching for a full time, certified, lead teacher to join our small but growing, independent, non-profit Montessori school.
The lead teacher is responsible for developing and implementing classroom curriculum for the elementary classroom (grades 1-3) and collaborating on school programs and initiatives, and plays a significant role in maintaining the safety and well-being of the children. This individual would adhere to the philosophy and method established by Maria Montessori, embraced by Bay Grove Montessori School.
The ideal candidate is responsible, energetic, organized, collaborative, and comfortable outdoors. A training sponsorship to an accredited Montessori teacher training program is available for applicants who are otherwise exceptionally qualified.

Position Details
Hours
- Position is full time (40 hours / week) from 7:30am to 3:30pm Monday to Friday, with weekly staff meetings until 4:00pm. Scheduling is flexible among the staff to support family and other outside commitments
- This is a salary position, $38,000/year, not eligible for overtime. Pay periods are monthly and can be structured on a 10 or 12 month schedule.

- Maintaining a healthy, clean, and safe environment for the children in your care.
- Preparing the learning environment for the students in your classroom, under guidance from the Head of School.
- Reinforcing and modeling classroom rules and expectations.
- Redirecting children to work.
- Supervising children in the classroom, extended care, and play yard.
- Observing and responding to children's needs, emergencies, and conflicts that may occur while they are at the school.
- Other duties as assigned by the Head of School.
- Lifting a minimum of 45 pounds.
Education
- At least 18 years of age
- Bachelor's Degree or higher in education or related field
- Montessori Lower Elementary credential preferred (or willingness to complete the requirements for a Montessori Early Childhood credential (AMS or AMI) from a MACTE accredited training center); FL elementary teaching license accepted.
- Infant/Child First-Aid, AED, & Epi-Pen Certified (provided by Bay Grove)
- Fire Extinguisher Training (provided by Bay Grove)
- Level-2 Background Check (provided by Bay Grove)
- Universal Precautions/Exposure Plan (provided by Bay Grove)
- Completion of a 40h DCF Introductory Child Care Training Program (desired, but not required), or willingness to begin and complete program within 12 months
- DCF Staff Credential (desired, but not required)
