Spend a beautiful summer evening with your family under the stars watching some of Hollywood's top films during "Central Square Cinema" Fridays this summer beginning at 8:00PM. Each Friday night, starting June 5th and concluding on August 14th, The Merchants of Seaside and the REP present a feature film guaranteed to help you relax after a tough day on the beach (or at work, or both if you're lucky enough to work on the beach)!
Below is the line-up for this summer...we look forward to seeing you at Seaside!
Central Square Cinema
June 5: Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa - In this sequel, the New York Zoo animals, Alex the Lion, Marty the Zebra, Melman the Giraffe and Gloria the Hippo, are still trying to leave Madagascar. All of a sudden, they land in the wilderness of Africa, where Alex meets the rest of his family, but has trouble communicating with them after spending so much time at the Central Park Zoo.
June 12: Kung Fu Panda - Set in ancient China, a bumbling panda aspires to be a kung fu master. After a much-feared warrior is prophecied to escape from prison, Po is foretold to be the Dragon Warrior, much to the chagrin of the resident kung fu warriors.
June 19: Shrek the Third - When the King of Far, Far Away 'croaks', it is up to Shrek, Donkey and Puss in Boots go off to bring back the next heir to the throne, Artie. Whilst Shrek and his crew are gone, Prince Charming brings together all evil fairy tale creatures in an attempt to take over as the new king.
June 26: Bee Movie - When bee Barry B. Benson graduates from college, he finds that will have only one job for his entire life, and absolutely disappointed, he joins the team responsible for bringing the honey and pollination of the flowers to visit the world outside the hive.
July 3: The Tale of Despereaux - The tale of three unlikely heroes - a misfit mouse who prefers reading books to eating them, an unhappy rat who schemes to leave the darkness of the dungeon, and a bumbling servant girl with cauliflower ears - whose fates are intertwined with that of the castle's princess.
July 10: Open Season 2 - After falling head over hooves in love with Giselle, Elliot's road to the altar takes a slight detour when Mr. Weenie is kidnapped by a group of pampered pets determined to return him to his owners.
July 17: Hotel for Dogs - Animals are strictly forbidden at Andi and her little brother Bruce's foster home. But for Friday, the adorable dog they secretly care for, they're ready to risk everything.
July 24: Daddy Day Camp - Hilarity reins when Daddy Day Care owners Charlie and Phil expand their business to include running a summer camp. Determined to provide their sons with a positive camp experience, Charlie and Phil visit their childhood Camp Driftwood only to find it dilapidated and on the brink of closure.
July 31: Get Smart - Maxwell Smart works for a Government spy agency in an administrative capacity. When the agency's head office is attacked, the Chief decides to assign Maxwell as a spy and partners him with sexy Agent 99, much to her chagrin. The duo nevertheless set off to combat their attackers, but are handicapped by Maxwell's antics.
August 7: The Truman Show - Truman Burbank lives a happy life. However, what he doesn't know is that his life is actually the focus of a reality TV show aired since his birth, that he's the star, his hometown is a giant set piece, and everyone around him is an actor going by a script.
August 14: The Final Season - Tradition in Norway, Iowa, can be summed up in one word, baseball. In the small Midwestern town, population 586, baseball is a legacy passed father to son, generation to generation. Touching and inspirational, this is one of those baseball movies in which the game is synonymous with life itself?if not actually bigger than life itself.
