I believe that Tony, with South Walton Carpet Restoration, has received some rave reviews on this board in the past.

I want to add a question on this topic -- anyone had antique rugs cleaned off site? I need the New Orleans washed off a couple before I use them!

I used Tony's company and it was a great experience!

ChemDry did a great job, and I highly recommend them. We used Capture, the product originally developed by my husband, to take care of a couple of spots that the ChemDry technician admitted up front that he might not be able to completely clean. My husband, as an expert in carpet cleaning technology, likes the quick-drying product that they use. The price was fair, too.

We are moving oriental and area rugs down in mid May. I'd like to get the orientals washed locally. Is Tony's still the place to contact ? Any other recommendations ? Thanks.

Hey Goofer- you might want to consider getting the rugs cleaned in NY- when we moved, I had them all hauled off about 5 weeks out from moving day, to give the cleaning company enough time to clean, dry, roll, and wrap them. They were much easier to move and store since they were rolled and wrapped and taped in heavy duty plastic. I had them delivered back to us 2 days before the moving truck came and it was nice to unroll clean rugs off the moving van!

I would never get an expensive Oriental rug cleaned anywhere other than a place that specializes in cleaning them, such as Sharian in Atlanta. I'm sure there is a place near Sedona that does this (like in Phoenix). My guess is there's not one in the Panhandle.

As far as the other rugs go, I will never, ever use anything but Capture on my rugs and carpet. Last year we hired someone who used a product that gave good results. However, because the residue remains in the carpet since it doesn't get rinsed out, the residue actually attracts dirt. Hubby (Mr. Wizard) gave me the scientific explanation why this is true. Our carpet quickly looked bad.

When we checked last year, there was no one locally who did professional cleaning with Capture. So, last month I got down on my hands and knees, and with a brush and a bucket of Capture, I hand-cleaned the carpet. Thankfully we only have three rooms with carpet (the second floor is hardwood and the first floor is stained concrete). The carpet looks great now. Of course, I got blisters on my knuckles that took about three weeks to totally heal. But it was worth it.

I love capture!! I have tried every carpet cleaner known to man and this is definitely the best. I use it for spot cleaning but when I need large areas done, I like ChemDry. Thanks to your hubby for developing this great product.
