Back to Basic Drawing Skills Class
Cultural Arts Alliance of Walton County: Bayou Arts Center
105 Hogtown Bayou Lane, Santa Rosa Beach FL 32459
May 11 - 27 (six sesssions) | 12-3pm
Online registration

Skill level: all skill levels welcome, beginning to advanced
Instructor: Joan Vienot, (850) 259-8394

Drawing is the simplest way to begin translating an image from idea to physical reality, whether it will actually take shape as a finished painting, sculpture, pot, or piece of jewelry. Most of the time, our initial efforts end up in the wastebasket, a forgotten part of the artistic process, but sometimes the drawing is a part of the final artwork. Throughout the class, Joan will make reference to various elements of design and composition.

This course will be presented in six sections over the last three weeks of May, 2020.
Monday, May 11, Noon to 3pm
Wednesday, May 13, Noon to 3pm
Monday, May 18, Noon to 3pm
Wednesday, May 20, Noon to 3pm
Tuesday, May 26, Noon to 3pm (Monday is a holiday)
Wednesday, May 27, Noon to 3pm

Each class will consist of instruction and review, in short segments, with mentored practice between each segment. We will talk about line quality, “seeing” shape and effective shape-making, and creating textures. We will practice drawing as preliminary to making other art, as well as making a drawing as an artwork in itself.

We also will experiment with media.
The fee is $210 for the whole course and for any part of the course. The supplies fee is $10 for media experimentation supplies and papers the instructor will provide. Class size will be limited to 20 students, or a minimum of 6, and will be presented at the Bayou Arts Center of the Cultural Arts Alliance, at 105 Hogtown Bayou Lane, Santa Rosa Beach, FL 32459.
