The most puzzling thing amongst all of this is the miles upon miles of public beach on both sides of 30A, that apparently isnt good enough. If I had a beach backyard, I'd love to use it. If I didnt, I'd want to be somewhere I wasnt being bothered by others. Seems on both ends theirs some serious entitlement issues.

Champagne problems for sure.

It's ugly that many homeowners want to keep people out, not just the beach. Gates going up everywhere.

Of course you would want to use. That in itself is not entitlement. However the beach is a "public" space "requiring" all of us to share this limited resource. If people bother you and sharing is not your thing (nothing wrong with that at all) then why not live on a space that allows your privacy? Wealth has allowed a few to believe they have both an entitlement to own public space and a right to exclude others from that public space. I am all for allowing beachfront owners a credit for sharing the public space however that is not what most of them want. Huckabee for example wanted to exclude people based on his believe that he has "status" or "power" that puts him "above" beach going people (peasants). His faith gave him that belief that a higher power allows for this. This is the can of worms that will eventually lead to another lost resource for the public...give an inch and they will take the whole beach...

only one "side" of 30A has beachfront......the south side. Anything north of 30A might have deeded access, but that access might only be 20 feet wide.

Sides as in east and west. If someone came at me with a powertool for whatever reason, next time I’d probably go elsewhere. Mere minutes from this hotly contested 30a sand, is virtually identical sand, many many miles of it, with none of this conflict, in West PCB. Everyone wants to have their cake and eat it too. But it’s a really easily solvable problem that doesn’t require frivolous lawsuits, complaining to municipalities, or threats of violence.

Walton County should tax beachfront owners $100k per inch.
Or the option for Beach rights given back to the public as God intended!

If someone threatens anyone with a power tool and then sues that person for not being intimidated for standing their ground or defending their rights to the beach I would call that person abusive and overly privileged. Turning the other cheek as you suggest is noble. Standing your ground and protecting your rights is also noble and brave. The best way to solve this is to share the cake or go make a cake that you do not have to share in a different kitchen...

Wow has it been 6 years since Huckabee wielded his authority over our 20 something miles of paradise and then left us to sort it all out? It is the end of another year and positions have hardened and intensified like concrete homes and power drills. Wishing there was some compromise where everyone is happy seems to be non-existent. 99% of us should be on the same page because this is about how wealth and power want control of all things including the way we use and share our valuable resources and not be manipulated with words like left and right or liberal and conservative or socialism and capitalism and religion and secularism and finally good and evil. For this new year coming up my hope is for people to stop being manipulated and learn how to socialize again. I hear religious people telling me there is only one truth and if you are not part of that truth you are wrong. I believe Truth is a purpose that needs to be questioned and explored but most of all needs to be inclusive...

Was this part of the Walton County only beach rule? Or all of Florida beaches at the beginning of covid? Ellen (long time visitor, not so frequent anymore)
