Bay Grove Montessori School, located off 331-S in Freeport, Florida, is searching for a substitute teacher to join our small but growing Montessori school. The substitute teacher plays a significant role in maintaining the safety and well-being of the children. The primary duties for this position are to assist staff in either the Children’s House classroom (ages 3 to 5) or Elementary Classroom (grades 1 to 3). The substitute teacher is willing to adhere to the philosophy and method established by Maria Montessori and embraced by Bay Grove Montessori School. The ideal candidate is responsible, energetic, organized, comfortable outdoors, and willing to follow staff direction/lead in all areas of classroom management.
Position Details
Hours
• As needed; 7.5-hour workday with 30-minute lunch break (arrival 7:30am, departure 3:00pm).
Pay
• Daily pay rate:
o $120.00/day for individuals with a degree
o $112.50/day for individuals with high school diploma or equivalent

Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Maintaining a healthy, clean, and safe environment for the children in your care.
• Assisting lead teacher in preparing the learning environment for developmental level being served in accordance with Montessori educational method.
• Assisting lead teacher in establishing rules and behavioral expectations.
• Reinforcing and modeling classroom rules and expectations.
• Supervising children in the classroom and play yard.
• Other duties as assigned by the Head of School or lead teacher.
• Observing and responding to children's needs, emergencies, and conflicts that may occur while they are at the school.
• Lifting a minimum of 45 pounds
Qualifications
Education
• At least 18 years of age
Certifications & Training
• DCF Staff Credential or willingness to begin 45-hour introductory training course.
• Infant/Child First-Aid, AED, & Epi-Pen Certified
• Fire Extinguisher Training (provided by Bay Grove)
• Level-2 Background Check (provided by Bay Grove)
• Universal Precautions/Exposure Plan (provided by Bay Grove)
• Bloodborne Pathogen Training (provided by Bay Grove)
