I am looking to purchase a new Iphone ...which means a new carrier. (AT&T) My grand daughter has lost service several times here in Grayton with her IPhone...so am having my doubts about going with AT&T and also investing in an IPhone. Anyone with AT&T in the area that can share their experience with their AT&T service in this area?
Thanks in Advance.

At&t, does have problems!

AT&T has had lots of trouble in SRB/ Seagrove Beach, losing signal, missed calls, etc... They say that they're upgrading, but, still problematic!!! :dunno:

I was down there last week and (miraculously) had no problems at all with AT&T. Wish I could say the same about the coverage in my living room back home.

Hello, I moved from the Atlanta area about 6 weeks ago and kept my AT&T service and cell number and have actually had good service, which I was not expecting. I just use a motorola Razr phone and live 'way out' in Point Washington and spend most of my time on 30-A, 98, and then Destin area. I do have a dead zone around Defuniak Springs and Freeport.

I don't think any service is good on 30a overall. It seems every service has many dead spots on 30-a. i have verizon and it works great on the beaches of grayton but off the beach its very spotty and frustrating.

AT&T, iPhone, MagicJack & 3G

I have an Gen 1 (no 3G) iPhone and live in WaterSound. No doubt that inside my house service is very spotty. If I go stand by my back door, I get a three bar signal. Elsewhere it's iffy. When I step outside, no issues. I think that's more of a function solid home construction than the cell service itself.

I also have an AT&T 3G laptop card. Forget it ... which means if you have a 3G iPhone you won't have 3G speed in this area at this time.

BTW. For inside-the-house phone service, I just bought a MagicJack and the service is flawless, crystal clear and I have a local phone number.

AT & T coverage at my house on Camp Creek Lake is abyssmal--I have to run out on my back deck, in the heat, to hear people clearly on the other end!. Plus my voice messages sometimes pop up two hours..later!

Members of my household have had Verizon and TMobile. I have AT&T. Mine is by far consistently the best. Guests regularly need to borrow my phone because mine is the only one with a signal inside the house. I often make and receive calls while walking in the surf. Very happy with the AT&T coverage.

NOTE: Oddly enough, the only place I have found that I do not get a signal on my AT&T Blackberry is inside the bar area at The Red Bar...

I had Verizon when I first got here and was able to get out of my contract because they told me they don't have a tower in the area. I researched and was informed that AT&T had the best converage then. That was two years ago.
I still have great reception and I'm on 30-A all the time. I do have less than a stellar signal in my steel stud showroom though.
I thought I heard that AT&T and Verizon were teaming up. Did I get the right two. It will be interesting to find out if that helps Verizon in the area.
