Italian Street Painting Festival!
Would you like to be an artist selected to be part of an elite group of artists who will be participating in our 13th Annual Via Colori? Italian Street Painting? The event will be held at Grand Boulevard at Sandestin Town Center, between Fusion Art Glass Gallery and Mitchell's Fish Market on Saturday, September 18, 2010, from 10:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m.
Via Colori?, The Street Painting Festival, is an upscale signature special event which raises funds for not-for-profit organizations throughout the United States, for more information see Via Colori - Street Painting Festival for Non-Profit Fundraising Events. Via Colori? will turn the street around Grand Boulevard Town Center into an artist's canvas of paintings. This is a rare opportunity for people to see artists work and an opportunity for artists to come together and create. During this one-day event, hundreds of visitors come and view the beautiful artwork, enjoy the creativity, and listen to live music.
All proceeds benefit the Seaside Neighborhood School. As one of the first five charter schools in Florida, this public school focuses on personalizing each student's educational plan through the use of innovative instructional strategies and technology. Public funding received through the school's charter status roughly covers teacher salaries. Funds for technology, art, music, books, supplies, robotics, etc., must be provided through a variety of fundraising efforts like Via Colori?.
HOW THE EVENT WORKS
Businesses have the opportunity to purchase squares on the street. Names are printed on a plaque and placed on the street below the square. Those who purchase squares and the artist who create the squares will be sent a photograph of their square at the close of the festival.
To confirm your spot as a volunteer artist, please contact Lisa Porter for an Artist Registration Agreement. Attach a brief biography and photo to be included in our artist brochure. The selling of merchandise, by any artist, will not be permitted, but there will be a silent auction of art that you are welcome to donate your wonderful work for all to see, proceeds will benefit the Seaside Neighborhood School. Please return all information to Lisa Porter no later than August 31, 2010.
Artists are asked to check in on Saturday morning at 8 a.m. at which time you will receive your Artist Package and your street square assignment. This all-you-need package will include pre-crushed chalk, brushes, spray bottles, gallon container, cups, knee pads, sunscreen, baby wipes, latex gloves, breakfast and lunch tickets, t-shirt, and more. All that is required of you is your time and talent!
There are no specific themes for your art, and there are only two rules governing the content of Via Colori? square: the works must be appropriate for public, family viewing; and no commercial messaging is allowed. For those who have not yet participated in a Via Colori? festival you will find attached Artist Tips, to learn about what it takes to street paint.
