Join us virtually on Wednesday, April 15th at 9 a.m. for an Art on Demand Class taught by Allison Wickey in partnership with the Cultural Arts Alliance of Walton County!
In this episode, Allison demonstrates how to create a one of a kind, textured impressionistic landscape from start to finish. Viewers will learn some basic painting techniques as well as how to build their own wood canvas and work with Venetian plaster.
Supply list:
- 1/4” Luan
- 1”x2” yellow pine
- chop saw
- nail gun
- wood glue
- paint mixing stick
- plastic plaster knife
- Venetian plaster (can be purchased on Amazon)
- acrylic paint
- empty plastic containers
Allison Wickey finds inspiration for her work all along the Gulf Coast, especially along the beautiful 30-A corridor. Originally from Belleville, IL, Allison attended the University of Missouri and went on to graduate with a major in Art from Columbia College in Chicago.
After 7 years of working as a Muralist and Faux Finish Artist in the St. Louis area, Allison moved to Santa Rosa Beach in 2007 and developed her Venetian Plaster on Wood technique. When not painting, she spends her time outdoors biking, paddle-boarding, enjoying the Emerald Coast with her two children and supporting the local art scene.
