Any Majicjack Users? thoughts?

I'm thinking of ditching my cell phone and just use a pay as you go for when I'm in the car with the girls, but would like to have cheap phone service at home, since that's where I am most of the time. Has anyone tried it?

It gets good reviews; however, your computer that it attached to must me on at all times for it to work. If you have a burglar alarm or another need for a continuous phone signal, it's not really for you.

My cousin uses it to place calls from his condo in Central America back to the US. He loves it.

I bought 2 of them for friends and they work really well. Just remember that the computer needs to be on to use it. Also remember to set up your location address so it will work for 911. They are worth every penny.

It works great, SSB. if your computer goes off for some reason, people can still leave a message and it emails you the messages to listen to. I would get the magic first and try it before you ditch your local line. On occasion, especially if someone is calling from a cell line, or if there is interference, you may have some trouble hearing someone. You could always just get basic service on your land line and use the MJ for all outgoing and use the land line for incoming.

As far as the pay as you go phones, activate it right away. I didn't know that and thought it was set up for me by Verizon. I didn't try making a call for weeks and when I tried, it didn't work. Called Verizon and found out that I had a short period to activate it or lose it which meant I threw the phone in the garbage. It was useless. :roll:
