Has anyone heard of any midwives in the area? Some friends of our looked a year or so ago and found the closest to be in Pensacola. We'd like to find someone closer.

I think there are a few in Panama City. My SIL had a doula for her recent birth. The doula was a super-cool soul, and could probably direct you to a mid-wife, or help you herself. I'll be happy to get her contact info for you, if you like.

I am a Licensed Massage Therapist / Doula. I would be happy to talk with you about finding a midwife and the advantages of working with a Doula during the prenatal, birth and postnatal process. I have 7 years expierence and my consultation is free. Please pm me or call Stan @ 850-319-9367.
FL license # MA33660. Whomever you choose, I would check online with Fl Department of Medical Quality Assurance to make sure the license is in order and they have no complaints against the license holder.

Thanks for the response. Panama City may be a little closer than Pensacola, but probably not close enough for us. We're in Driftwood Estates. Our daughter was born so quick we barely made it to the hospital. Her head was crowning when we got there and the midwife made it in time for the final push and catch. We were warned then that the next baby would probably come even faster.

At this point we're still waiting to see if we make it past the 12 week point. We've lost the last 2 at 6-8 weeks.

Seacrestkrist, my wife is neither a poster or a lurker. I lurk here daily and occasionally post. Thanks for the congrats.

God bless ya'll. So sorry. Hopefully, ya'll will make it through this one. Prayers are with ya'll. Gosh, after ya'lls' first baby gull sounds like the mid wife should live very nearby. :leaving:

Maria Milton, Licensed Midwife. 850-834-2946. She is in Paxton which is in NoWal. My friends have used her and several of my family members used her mother. Call "For the Health of it" and ask Rachel, she has attended births with Maria.

Waaay back, there were several ladies with the title "Nurse/Midwife" practicing at Fort Walton Beach Medical Center BUT the last time I paid attention was over ten years ago. The only other midwife I am familiar with - and I've never met her, but her mama was famous - is the lady Romeosmydog mentioned.

First things first - good luck to you and your wife for another successful pregnancy!

My friend had a midwife attend her birth at home last November and she lives in SRB, my friend, don't know where the midwife lives. If you want more info on that, e-mail me at valerieloftonphotography@yahoo.com and I'll put you two in touch.
I went to Maria almost 4 years ago and she is fabulous, but sounds like you may not make the long drive to her house. She won't come here. Have you considered doing it yourselves?
