Kids on Campus in Niceville offer summer camps and classes every summer. Now Kids on Campus/All Kinds of Art will be available in DeFuniak Springs, thanks to MKAF!
Northwest Florida State College’s “Kids on Campus” program and The Mattie Kelly Arts Foundation’s “All Kinds of Art” are delighted to announce a partnership offering a one week summer camp for 3rd – 8th graders at the college’s Chautauqua Center, 908 West Hwy 90, DeFuniak Springs, July 25th – 29th.
This unique experience features a fantastic lineup of visual and performing arts classes, cooking classes, sports activities and a Science 4 You Class --- all in a collegiate setting. Kids rotate through each class daily. This week-long camp includes arts, science and sports immersion experiences that culminate in a dynamic performance showcase for family and friends on Friday. Julie Cotton, Director of Professional Continuing Education with Northwest Florida State College and Marcia Hull, CEO of Mattie Kelly Arts Foundation stated, “We are pleased to combine our resources and curriculum in a fun environment for youth development in this summer camp experience.”
There are three different options for either half-day or full-day sessions.
1. The “All Kinds of Art” morning sessions, with studio art, theatre, and music classes, will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., at $125 per child.
2. The “Kids on Campus” afternoon sessions; featuring cooking, sports and science, is offered from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., at $95 per child.
3. A full-day “Kids on Campus & All Kinds of Art” session will be offered from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the discounted rate of $200 per child.
A highlight of the morning “All Kinds of Art” program includes percussion and world beats with nationally acclaimed musician and educator, Zig Wajler of “Hands on With Zig.” His hands-on percussion assemblies have already taken Walton County elementary schools by storm, when he performed for eight different school assemblies in October, courtesy of the Mattie Kelly Arts Foundation. Zig’s special appearance at this camp was made possible by the generosity of The Alys Foundation and Destin Commons-Coins for a Cause.
Since 1995, the Mattie Kelly Arts Foundation has provided exemplary learning opportunities through arts education. Its one-of-a-kind outreach program, All Kinds of Art, facilitates meaningful cultural experiences in K-12 schools and community organizations in Okaloosa and Walton Counties. All Kinds of Art seeks to support youth development through engaging programs promoting the performing, visual, and literary arts.
