Adults Weekend Retreat...May 30-31st

The University of Florida Okaloosa and Walton County Extension is offering a Camp for Adults..."Adults Unplugged." This is a chance to spend the night at Camp Timpoochee in Niceville on the bay, in cabins, and take part in many various activities to get outdoors and kick off your shoes.

Activities for participants will include summer cookouts, kayaking and snorkeling, GPS scavenger hunts, environmental and healthy lifestyle workshops and campfire activities. Come and join the fun!!

The adventure is from Saturday May 30th at 9am till Sunday May 31st at 3pm. The cost is $100, which includes a place to stay, all meals, and all activities. All proceeds go to the Reach Out With Science (ROWS) 4-H program to provide programming for low income at-risk children.

This sounds great. Great cause and benefit. Such a beautiful natural place on the Bay. I went out there once or twice when Scott Jackson was around and working for the Extension Service and UF. I thought the turn off was on Highway 20 in Choctaw Beach in Walton County. Perhaps the entrance has changed? Isn't a lot of the camp actually in Choctaw Beach on the Bay? It is right on the border between Walton and Okaloosa. If you go to the city of Niceville, Okaloosa County, you've gone too far west. It is really hard to find in the dark. Dark when camping is good. Dark when looking for a dirt road with no signs is difficult.

Yes it is a great place. I am the one who replaced Scott when he moved to Wakulla. The mailing address is Niceville, but you are right it is off of HWY 20 on County Line Road. It is between Niceville and Freeport. There is a sign on HWY 20 but you need to be looking for it on County line.
