The Walton County Fair, Inc. was chartered in 1924 as an Agriculture Fair that has always been committed to promoting agriculture in the community. The Fair provides an opportunity for youth and adults alike to showcase their talents for artwork, handicrafts, growing crops, rearing livestock, etc. This is an excellent forum to bring the community together for great food, fun and entertainment.
The Walton County Fair is a non-profit organization run by volunteers. There are currently seven board members elected by the membership, and a fair manager.
This year’s fair is Oct. 10-15. Doors open at 5 Monday through Friday, and noon on Saturday.[FONT="]Gate admission is $3 for adults, and $2 for children ages 6-12. Children younger than 6 admitted free.[/FONT]
[FONT="]Armbands available on the midway every night. [/FONT][FONT="]Monday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday, $15. Tuesday and Thursday, $12. On Saturday, armbands are good from noon until 5 p.m., and then a new one must be purchased for the remainder of the evening. The rides will be closed from 5-6 on Saturday for a state required inspection.[/FONT]
There will be something special for the kids every night of the Fair and the best part is it is all free. Monday through Saturday the special events will be held in the arena. Check at the gate for activity times.
Greased Pig Contest - [FONT="]Tuesday & Thursday -- T[/FONT]his is just too fun to watch. The kids scramble to catch the pig as it races around the arena. On Tuesday the contest will be for kids 7 and under. On Thursday, the 8-13 year olds will get their chance. Kids planning to participate should be sure to bring extra clothes to change into so they can enjoy the midway and the rest of the Fair.
Wheelbarrow Race – [FONT="]Friday -- [/FONT]Come and watch the kids, up to age 18, on Friday at 6:30 p.m., as they compete in the blind wheelbarrow race in the Arena.
Costume Contest – [FONT="]Saturday -- [/FONT]What a great time to try out your costume for Halloween. Saturday, there will be a costume contest at 2:30 p.m. on the new stage in the main building. Prizes will be awarded for - Prettiest, Funniest, Most Original, Best Team Costume
Farm Relay – [FONT="]Saturday -- [/FONT]On Saturday at 6:30 p.m., kids 18 and under can compete in the Farm Relay. There will be a variety of fun farm activities. Come out and cheer on the kids as they compete in the Arena.
